After evaluation by the Good Housekeeping Research Institute (GHRI), the original five Green Works® products have earned the prestigious Good Housekeeping Seal. Since the editors of Good Housekeeping created it in 1909, the Seal has served as a trusted, iconic emblem that helps direct consumers with their purchasing decisions. In fact, if any product bearing the Seal proves to be defective within two years of the purchase date, Good Housekeeping will refund the purchase price or replace it. Currently, about 5,000 products are protected by this policy.

Scientists and engineers at the Good Housekeeping Research Institute worked with leading green consultants, environmental experts, NGOs, academia, and trade associations to establish criteria for the Green Good Housekeeping Seal. Only products that first earn the primary Good Housekeeping Seal, and then meet the environmental criteria, can earn the Green Good Housekeeping Seal.
